Is this strictly a statistics activity? Or is the data likely to use other techniques outside of statistics techniques?
This is NOT just a statistics activity it's a data activity! The event is open to anyone with an interest in data, regardless of major.
Who is eligible to compete?
All community college students are eligible to compete.
How large are the teams?
Teams can be made up of 2-5 students, but we recommend that you have at least three team members wherever possible.
Do I have to compete in a team?
Yes.
Is the 2026 TYC DataFest in-person or virtual?
Virtual! This year's CC DataFest will be a completely virtual competition. The kick-off and data reveal will be Friday, March 27th. On Sunday, March 29th, the participants will send in a 5-minute video of their findings/results. Our judges will review the submitted videos and the 2024 TYC DataFest awards will be announced virtually by Sunday, April 4th.
What do I need to compete? Is there an entry fee?
All you need is a laptop with tools for data analysis (there is no limitation on what software you use) and enthusiasm for data. There is no entry fee.
