AMATYC Wanda Garner Presidential Student Scholarship

 

Purpose of the Award

The purpose of the Wanda Garner Presidential Student Scholarship is to encourage the study of mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, or a STEM field by students enrolled in institutions of higher education.

 

Criteria

  1. The student must be nominated by an AMATYC member.
  2. The student must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
  3. The nominated student must be planning to major in mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, or a STEM field, and enrolled full-time at the nominee's institution during the spring term (January-May) preceding the AMATYC Annual Conference when the scholarship is awarded.
  4. If a student is nominated by multiple members in any year, only the first nomination will count.

 

Method of Selection

  1. The AMATYC Past President will notify the membership each year in the spring about the scholarship.
  2. Nominations must be received through the online submission form by October 15.
  3. The scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by a random drawing at a meeting (in-person or virtual) of at least three members of the Executive Board.
  4. The scholarship recipient's name(s) will be announced at a general session and the affiliate president's luncheon of the AMATYC Annual Conference.
