This year the Foundation is directing our efforts to endowing the Teaching Excellence Award. Read more here. Please donate today and help the Foundation reach its goal.
AMATYC is a non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation and donations to the Foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Online donations are quick and easy using secure credit card transactions. We welcome donations of all sizes and payment plans whether it's a one-time gift or a recurring contribution.
You may direct your donation to any of several funds. Nondirected funds will go into the General Development Fund. Donating to the General Development Fund allows the Foundation to provide funding where it is most needed. You may contribute to the Foundation on the Main Donate Page.
The AMATYC Foundation is committed to promoting and supporting the purposes, goals, and projects of AMATYC. The Foundation was established by the AMATYC Executive Board in October 1990 and became a non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt entity in October 1995. Since that time, it has provided financial support for the goals and activities of AMATYC and its members, and for AMATYC projects. This can only happen with the support of our members. Through your generosity we can achieve our vision to be the leading voice and resource for excellence in mathematics education in the first two years of college.
Mission: The AMATYC Foundation provides financial resources to ensure the success of current and future AMATYC initiatives and innovation, to support AMATYC members in their quest for life-long professional development, and to recognize the exemplary work of all involved in mathematics education in the first two years of college.
Vision: The AMATYC Foundation will provide financial resources to support the mission and vision of AMATYC.
PROPOSED ENDOWMENT-FUNDED ACTIVITIES/PROJECTS
The AMATYC Foundation helps to fund the activities of AMATYC primarily through its annual campaign. This is not likely to change in the foreseeable future. However, the Foundation is aware that there are individuals and groups of individuals who are willing and able to give larger amounts provided the activities or projects fit their interest.
Therefore, the AMATYC Foundation has produced the following list of member-focused and student-focused activities for which endowments are welcome.
| Item | Annual Amount | Amount Needed to Fully Endow | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Student Research League | AMATYC runs an annual competition where teams of students solve real-world problems using mathematics. Sponsorship would also be considered in lieu of endowment. | $7,500 | $187,500 |
| Student Math League | AMATYC's flagship student competition, where individuals and teams are faced with challenging problems that use creativity and mathematics to solve. | $2,200 | $55,000 |
| TYC DataFest | In conjunction with the American Statistical Association's DataFest, AMATYC offers a virtual datafest for two-year college students. | $1,000 | $25,000 |
| Regional Scholarships | One member from each of AMATYC's 8 regions is awarded free registration to the Annual Conference, based on random selection among applicants. | $4,000* | $100,000 |
| Teaching Excellence and Mathematics Leadership Excellence Awards | These award leaders in teaching excellence and mathematics leadership excellence in alternate years. Awardees are selected by committee following peer nomination. | $2,000 | $50,000 |
| Project ACCCESS | This is AMATYC's hugely successful mentorship program developing highly effective teachers and leaders in the early stages of their two-year college career. | $30,000 | $750,000 |
| MathAMATYC Educator | This is AMATYC's quarterly journal which is available to members both in print and online. | $25,000 | $625,000 |
| Conference Keynote Speaker Honoraria | These honoraria go to the keynote speakers at each Annual Conference. Offering sufficient honoraria allows AMATYC to bring in the high-quality diverse speakers that AMATYC members love. | $4,000 | $100,000 |
| General Endowment Fund | This endowment provides the Foundation with resources that they can use where they determine it best serves membership. | Donations are always appreciated. | Already established |
| Wanda Garner Presidential Student Scholarships | AMATYC awards student scholarships annually. However, these are currently fully funded to the nomination numbers AMATYC receives for these scholarships. | Fully funded at this time | Not soliciting at this time |
*Or multiples thereof. This is the amount for one Annual Conference registration scholarship per year. Additional funds can be used to allow for more than one scholarship per region. However, per AMATYC policy, the donor may not specify the recipient nor region.
This list will be constantly updated as monies are pledged, and new activities or projects are identified.
It is also important to note that the right-hand column represents the amount of money required to totally fund the activity/project. Partial endowments can also free up general contributions to support other projects.
