Statistics Workshops

Traveling Statistics Workshops are a cost-effective way to help you and your colleagues align introductory statistics courses and instructional practices to the national recommendations for statistics teaching and learning.

Topics for the workshops include:

  • Discussing the recommendations of national organizations of statistics education for teaching introductory statistics courses
  • Developing an introductory statistics course structured around the Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education
  • Discussing strategies for emphasizing conceptual understanding in an introductory statistics course
  • Finding and using real data in the classroom
  • Developing statistical literacy and thinking
  • Choosing appropriate technology for teaching introductory statistics
  • Finding and using online resources for teaching introductory statistics
  • Implementing classroom activities that enhance learning
  • Developing assessment strategies and instruments that measure student learning

Each workshop is tailored to the site. You choose the facilitator and the topics that will be most beneficial to your faculty and the event. To inquire about a Traveling Workshop, submit the Requesting a Workshop form.

AMATYC Statistics Traveling Workshops sponsored by CAUSE

At this time, we have a full slate of grant-sponsored workshops tentatively planned and will not be taking any more applicants for the free workshops.  If this changes, this message will change.  Traveling workshops in Statistics can still be arranged, but with the normal Traveling Workshop costs.
