Analysis/Reflection of the Problem Set (Exam)
In general, do an analysis/reflection when your grade on a problem was less than or equal to 3 out of 5 or 6 out of 10.
1. Do the problem over. I want to see not only the answer, but your description of how you got the answer. If you are not sure, check with Blackboard anytime after class on Thursday for an answer key. However, at first, I want you to work on your own.
2. Describe why you got it wrong the first time. In some cases, you will say that it was a careless error. In some cases, you will say you got mixed up or were not clear—describe what was unclear to you or what you only understood partially.
Self-assessment (optional)
Here are questions that have proved helpful for many previous students, If some or all of them are helpful, write your thoughts before coming to see me.
a. Is your focus more on getting it than on making sense, more on the how than on the why?
b. Are you knowing that you are only partially understanding ideas and problems, but not taking action-e.g., seeing the instructor?
c. Are you not spending enough time on the course?
d. Are you getting stuck in between classes and thus not doing much homework for that reason?
