AN INVITATION FOR YOUR NOMINATION
The Continuing Search for Excellence

January 6, 2010
rob Dear AMATYC Member:

How is AMATYC like the Tournament of Roses Parade? In Pasadena, as soon as this year’s parade was over, they started planning for the 2011 parade. In AMATYC, as soon as one group of your colleagues is recognized for their excellence in teaching, we start looking for the next set of awardees.

Not only were the TE awardees announced at the recent Las Vegas conference, but also each region selected a representative for the 2011 AMATYC Teaching Excellence Award Committee. The members of the committee are:

  • AMATYC President-Elect – Jim Roznowski
  • Northeast – Nadarajah Kirupaharan
  • Mid-Atlantic – Agnes Azzolino
  • Southeast – Margaret Ehrlich
  • Midwest – Larisa Russell
  • Central – Karen Gaines
  • Southwest – Melinda Rudibaugh
  • Northwest – Susan Knights
  • West – Gregory Duabenmire

The job for committee members over the next year is to encourage nominations for the TE Award from throughout the entire AMATYC membership.

Teaching excellence is at the heart of the two-year college mission and our profession. I urge you to honor an AMATYC member who demonstrates excellence in this critical role. It is through the recognition of our best practitioners that we emphasize the importance of our profession and the professional goals to which we all aspire.

Please take the time now to honor a colleague with your nomination. The nomination deadline is December 6, 2010. Information on what to include in a nomination packet as well as Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) are available at the links above. If you have questions about the award or the nomination process, please contact the TE Award Committee chair, Jim Roznowski (jaroznow@delta.edu), your AMATYC Regional Vice-President, or your region’s committee representative.

Sincerely,

Rob Farinelli
AMATYC President
