AMATYC Networks (ANets) offer AMATYC members a way to organize
and network professionally with other AMATYC members who share
a common interest. At least five AMATYC members need to express
an interest in forming an ANet for it to be considered by the
AMATYC Board. The Board determines if the proposed ANet fits the
mission of AMATYC. If approved by the Board, the ANet is assigned
to one of AMATYC’s eight academic committees to help with
organization and to provide support to the ANet. AMATYC support
for an ANet includes assistance in identifying potential additional
members, publicizing group activities, and assistance in finding
locations for the network to meet during AMATYC conferences. ANets
are reviewed by the Board every three years to see if they should
continue.

Describe the Topic or Area of Interest for
the ANet and explain how it fits with the mission an goals
of AMATYC.

Provide complete contact information for the
AMATYC member proposing the creation of the ANet.

Provide the names and email addresses of at
least five (5) AMATYC members interested in joining the proposed
ANet.

Indicate to which AMATYC academic committee
you feel the ANet should be assigned.
AMATYC Academic Committees
Distance Learning
To provide information and serve as a resource
on distance learning issues pertaining to community college
mathematics departments, programs, and curricula.
Equal Opportunity in Mathematics
To enhance the position of women and minorities
in mathematics as students, teachers, researchers, or applied
mathematicians.
Faculty Development
To identify and examine topics that pertain to
the professional growth, the professional atmosphere, and the
professional welfare of the AMATYC membership.
Foundation/Developmental Mathematics
To improve the quality of developmental mathematics
programs in two-year colleges by providing a forum for the exchange
of ideas.
Placement and Assessment
To provide information and serve as resource and
support for members and their institutions on matters regarding
placement and assessment.
Program/Curriculum Issues
To identify and examine issues that pertain to
community college mathematics in areas dealing with programs,
curricula, and preservice teacher preparation.
Technical Mathematics/AAS Programs
To support mathematics courses in Allied Health
and Human Services, Business, Computer/Information Technology,
Trade and Industry, Engineering Technologies, and Emerging Technologies.
Technology in Mathematics Education
To promote and facilitate the appropriate use of
technology within the mathematics curricula and by mathematics
educators.
