Airport/Hotel Transportation | Getting Around Washington, D.C. | Hotel Information

Airport/Hotel Transportation

Washington, DC is served by three airports:

  • Thurgood Marshall Baltimore/ Washington International (BWI), 33 miles from the hotel;
  • Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), 6 miles from the hotel; and
  • Dulles International (IAD), 27 miles from the hotel.

You may also arrive by train at Union Station, 3 miles from the hotel. Amtrak is offering a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to Washington, DC for travel between November 17 and 24. To book your reservation call Amtrak at 800.872.7245 or contact your local travel agent. Please refer to Convention Fare Code X26T-940 when making your reservation. Use the following options to complete your journey to the hotel.

1. SuperShuttle*

Reserve online at www.supershuttle.com or by calling 800 BLUE VAN (800.258.3826). Fill in the information under “Book a Ride” on the left. Enter the discount code, HP7PT, in the “Group/Discount” box. You will need your airline name, flight number, and time of arrival when you make the reservation. Enter "Hilton" for your hotel choice and then select "Hilton Washington Hotel, 1919 Connecticut Ave." Roundtrip cost from each airport is currently quoted as BWI - $70 minus $6 discount, DCA - $24 minus $2 discount, and IAD - $54 less a $4 discount. These prices are subject to change. If you are traveling with a group, consider one booking to receive the “Additional Guest” rate. This method only receives one discount, however; you can do the math to compare per person cost. At each airport, follow the signs to Ground Transportation after you claim your bags. If you change your return trip time after arriving at the conference, call 800.258.3826.

2. Taxi Cab Service*

At BWI and DCA, taxis are located outside the baggage claim area. At IAD, they are outside the Main Terminal. Cost is approximately $65 from BWI, $19 from DCA, and $55 from IAD. A taxi ride from Union Station is about $12.

3. Light Rail/Public Bus Service*

It is possible to reach the hotel through a combination of public bus service and Metro (subway) travel. Busses require exact change ($1.35). Metro stations have fare card machines that take small bills. Metro fares depend on distance and time of day. See www.wmata.com for more information.

Regardless of the airport where you begin, your Metrorail journey will end on the red line at the Dupont Circle Station. Look for the exit to Q Street. You will get off the escalator in the center of the traffic circle. Find the Connecticut Ave. radius leaving the circle, and walk uphill, to the north four blocks to the hotel.

From BWI Ground Transportation, take Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) bus B30 to the Greenbelt Metro Station. Take the green line toward Branch Ave.; at the Fort Totten Station, transfer to the red line toward Shady Grove. Exit at Dupont Circle and follow the above directions. Cost is less than $10.

At DCA, the Metro station is opposite the Main Terminal; there is a courtesy shuttle van from Terminal A. Take the yellow line toward Fort Totten. At Gallery Place Station, transfer to the red line toward Shady Grove. Exit at Dupont Circle and follow the above directions. Cost is less than $6.

From IAD use the Washington Flyer Coach bus at Door 4 on the Arrivals level to the West Falls Church Metro Station. Take the orange line toward New Carrollton. At Metro Center station change to the red line toward Shady Grove. Exit at Dupont Circle and follow the directions above. Cost is less than $15. Or from the bus stop at Curb 2E you may take WMATA bus 5A towards L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station. Exit the bus at the Rosslyn Metro Station for the orange line towards New Carrollton. At the Metro Center Station change to the red line towards Shady Grove. Exit at Dupont Circle and follow the above directions. Cost is less than $5.
