The monthly average high temperature in Washington, DC is
55 degrees Fahrenheit and the low is 37. A coat will be needed. However,
for walking and sight seeing a light coat may be more comfortable. Rain
is always a possibility, so be prepared.

or click on Local Arrangements from the AMATYC conference page for
information on museums, monuments, theaters, and other attractions.
If you are interested in a tour, please stop by the hotel concierge
desk. They will have all the information you need to make plans for
you and your guests. Members of the Local Events Committee recommend
the Tourmobile (www.tourmobile.com)
for its free re-boarding feature to let you browse at your own pace.
The company also offers a twilight tour to see the city lights as
evening descends.
A free performance is held every day on the Millennium Stage at 6:00
pm. The National Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform November
20–23 at the Kennedy Center.
The Capitol Steps perform their unique satire of political life every
Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 pm. As more venues post Fall calendars,
we will update the Local Arrangements website, http://clab.cecil.edu/amatyc/,
to include sporting events and concerts at the Verizon Center.
A job board and recruitment table will be located near the
registration area. Bring copies of any job announcements from your college
or personal resumés if you are seeking a job.
New at the conference for AMATYC conference registrants who are potential
cmployers and AMATYC conference registrants who are potential employees
is a better opportunity to meet and be met. Wouldn’t it be great if
those looking for new faculty and those looking for a position had
a better opportunity to meet and talk? AMATYC has set aside the Dupont
room on Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm for you to get together.
Job Offerers: If your school is a current Institututional Member
as of August 31, 2008, and you have position(s) available, you’ve
probably already posted your announcements on the job board. Bring
job announcements and college applications and any other items your
HR department requires to the Dupont room on Friday afternoon along
with an 8½ x 5½ inch sign with your college name and get ready to
talk informally with any interested parties. We will provide a comfortable
informal setting to meet prospective employees and get the ball rolling
for your school.
Job Seekers: Bring copies of your CVs and come to the Dupont room
on Friday afternoon to talk informally with potential employers.
This meeting will provide a time to “put the faces with the names”
and provide each other with immediate information as you each continue
the job looking/filling process.
Contact Kari Arnoldsen at kari.arnoldsen@snow.edu
to let her know you are planning to participate in one role or the
other and to ask questions and get more information on how to use
the time effectively and move along your job searching/finding processes.
