Call
for Presenters and Presiders
Deadline for Submission
of Proposals is February 1, 2006.
Presenter
and Presider Applications are listed below.
Please use the appropriate form(s) to submit your applications
to Present and/or Preside.
Proposals are now being accepted to present or preside during
the November 2006 Conference in Cincinnati. All
proposals to present a session, workshop, or panel must be submitted
online through the AMATYC web page at www.amatyc.org. Late
or incomplete proposals will not be considered. Complete
contact information is required for all presenters. Additional
presenters cannot be added or substituted after submission of
this proposal without the recommendation of the Program Coordinator
and approval of the Conference Coordinator. Only persons whose
names appear in the Conference Program are official AMATYC Speakers.
Two presentation formats are available: 50-minute sessions and
2-hour workshops. Presentations may involve single or multiple
presenters and must not promote or sell a commercially available
product or service. Sessions may include active attendee participation,
lecture, or panel discussion. The two-hour format is reserved
for workshops and must include active attendee participation,
an in-depth treatment of a topic, and substantial handouts. An
offsite PC computer lab may be available for a limited number
of two-hour workshops.

Since AMATYC’s updated standards document, Beyond Crossroads,
is scheduled to be released at the 2006 conference, proposals
that reflect the recommendations in that document or that illustrate
successful implementation of aspects of the original Crossroads,
are particularly encouraged. A draft copy of Beyond Crossroads
may be downloaded from the AMATYC web page. Proposals are reviewed
and rated by the Program Committee with attention to the appropriateness
for mathematics educators in the first two years of college and
overall topic balance of the program. Proposals from faculty and
other professionals currently engaged in two-year college education
are especially encouraged.
Please be as flexible as possible regarding the days you are
willing to present and limit your equipment request to only that
which is absolutely necessary. AMATYC does not provide computers
or LCD computer projectors for 50-minute sessions.
Each proposal will be acknowledged by an email receipt. If
you do not receive an email receipt within a few days after submission,
please contact the AMATYC office immediately. Letters of invitation
to present at the conference are issued in April.
When proposals have more than one presenter, the first person
listed becomes the official AMATYC contact who will receive all
correspondence regarding the proposal and must agree to keep
the copresenter(s) informed, including notifying them that
they are required to register and pay the conference registration
fee. Only the first-listed person may be eligible for the speaker
reduced registration fee. To be eligible for the speaker reduced
registration fee, the first-listed speaker must be an AMATYC member.
AMATYC members are those Regular (individual) members, Associate
(student) members, Adjunct members, and Retired members whose
membership dues are current at the time of their registration
for the conference. Membership dues may be paid with registration.
AMATYC does not pay honoraria or expenses.
