Discovering the Art of Mathematics (DAoM)
has developed a library of 10 free, semester and/or year long, inquiry-based learning guides for mathematics for liberal arts and other general
education mathematics students. These curricula help empower your
students to actively explore mathematics in an inquiry-based way which
connects the beauty of mathematics and the process of discovery with
the arts and the humanities.
In DAoM traveling workshops you will:
- experience what mathematical inquiry can feel like in a mathematics for liberal arts class,
- investigate particular content areas that might connect with your liberal arts and general education students,
- understand and practice ways for creating a classroom
environment where productive, safe, deep, and student-centered
mathematical inquiry can take place,
- reflect on how interactions between teachers and students
depend on the nature of the curriculum materials, classroom setup, and
the roles teachers build for student learning.
Each workshop is tailored to the site. You choose the
facilitator and the topics that will be most beneficial to your faculty
and the event. To inquire about a Traveling Workshop, submit the Requesting a Workshop form.
